Minutes Nov. 20, 2003: Professors Mark Frisch, Luke Mbefo, Jing Li, and Angela Kim Harkins presented papers for a panel on CROSS CULTURAL/CROSS DISCOURSE ENCOUNTERS: TRANSLATION AS METAPHOR. Roughly 25 people participate in a lively discussion following the papers. The different perspective offered in that discussion helped to illustrate the panelists' point concerning the difficulties and richness of translation as cross-cultural/discourse encounter. |
